Seismic Retrofit for Commercial Buildings in San Francisco
LPD Builders is a licensed commercial general contractor for older commercial and mixed-use buildings in San Francisco, the Peninsula and Marin. We build seismic and structural work built to your engineer’s details.
What we build
- Seismic and structural work built to your engineer’s details.
- Structural work folded into a renovation or tenant improvement, so the walls are opened once.
How a project runs
- A site walk with you and your engineer, with no obligation.
- A written scope and a line-by-line price from your engineer’s drawings.
- Target: written price within 7 calendar days after the walk and the information we need. Larger or complex projects may take longer. Pricing is an estimate, not a bid or contract, and becomes binding only in a signed agreement.
- A certificate of insurance on request. Verify CSLB #1082065.

Questions
Who designs a seismic retrofit, the contractor or the engineer?
A structural engineer designs the retrofit and the city reviews it; the general contractor prices and builds it. We build from your engineer’s drawings and price the work line by line.
How quickly will I get a price?
Target: written price within 7 calendar days after the walk and the information we need. Larger or complex projects may take longer, and pricing becomes binding only in a signed agreement.
Can seismic work be done while tenants stay in the building?
It depends on the building and the scope. During the site walk we talk through phasing, access and noise around occupied spaces, and say up front which parts of the work need a space to be empty.
Can a retrofit be combined with a tenant improvement or renovation?
Yes. If walls and floors are already open, folding the structural work into a tenant improvement or renovation means one general contractor, one schedule and one line-by-line price.
